ANet is on record to this point as saying that NO the level cap will never be raised. The arguement being that it would reduce the emphasis on skill. The limited number of attiribute points you have forces you to be creative and efficient in their use. If you could level up to 50, and have hundreds more points, you could simply "specialize" in everything. You wouldn't have to ask yourself, "gee, should I drop some Tactics for Strength?" You could simply max them all.

I doubt it, or if so, to spite all the other games that do it.

LOL.

Hmm, let me see:

I play Wow. My warrior is level 37, and my rogue is level 56. No, I do not play 8 hours a day, and in fact average about 2 -3 per 2 days. I run my own guild/clan thing, and it runs smoothly. Asshats in this game are a rare sight on my server (elune). I find the quests to be WORTH something in terms of reward, rather than "seeds" or "a shield with a name". I often get paid money AND an item for quests.

The player-run auction house is truly badass. I make most of my upgrade income just selling the items that I craft and put up in there. You can find mats for your crafting in the ah, which makes killing monsters for "leather and stuff" less of a migraine.

Travel is pretty expensive if you fly all over the planet alot, but if you map out your plan ahead, its not that bad.

Once more, asshats in this game are rare, and will almost ALWAYS be of the opposing faction (i'm horde, meaning orcs, undead etc, so that means most humans, midgets and whatnot are assholes out of principle). If you speak to opposing faction players, they see gibberish, and vice versa, unless you learn their native tongues (way into the game and such).

The drop rate for things is really high for me, but that may by my server alone, I cannot be sure.

When I kill a monster, if I have been logged out or not playing for a while in town, I get 3 times the xp from normal, for a short time, which is based on how long you were at rest, proportionally.

Party play with others usually is ok, and you can set loot conditions, unlike gw.

There is more to the game than the pvp obsession. You gain honor rank points for honorable kills, up to sargeant and beyond, which will be on your player name for all to see (there are other LEGAL ways of gaining those, if you wanna know, pm me *grin*).

Your character truly begins to look more badass as your level up increases.

The ability to craft your own armor and weapons is pretty damn cool to me, I usually make my upgrade set on my smithy, then swap to my enchanter, add enchantments to my gear, then mail it all back to myself. Which means upon inspection of my avatar by another character, it shows im fully decked out in handmade gear, which tickles me silly.

The rare items in the game, unlike the gw yellows? those things truly SMITE ASS. If you sell one, expect to be wealtky for a while. If you actually keep and use it, expect to be a butter knife to mobs.

The pvp is fun because, well on my server at least, you cannot be attacked by others unless yo type /pvp in the console, or bitchslap a avatar marked PVP. Meaning after 5 mins of non fighting in friendly towns, it goes off, meaning you can really irritate the bad guys

Duels are allowed anywhere if you wish it, and losing doesnt kill you, but it tells everyone in the region you kicked someone's ass or vice versa.

Events are a treat, like halloween, they had a large burning straw man outside of the undead capital city, and handed out buffs from the sky. it was good fun. And right now in town, you can bob for apples, and use those as healing kits in battle. LOL

There really is so much to the game, beyond my obvious interest, that it would take me pages of thread to go into it, ill cap off with this:

It is a complete, living world, and in addition to your main 2 professions that are allowed at one time, you can learn fishing, first aid, and others. These can be unlearned and relearned at will, making the possibilities for your character beyond comprehension.

You will RARELY, if ever, in this game, see the same looking person twice.

I have only played the game for a bit over two weeks myself, and at first, when GW was still in Beta, I though it sucked arse becaus GW was so uber cool and blaa blaa.. three months and 600 hours of GW later, I am dead bored of GW, and I realised how much more I would of enjoyed WoW.
WoW is a game that can really provide a sence of Role Playing.. so many ways to develop your character. Professions.. crafting.. the items.. quest.. so many other little things.. They make the game rich.
In GW there is no originality really.. Everyone can look like anyone else, and there is not that much of diversity in skill sets/combinations. Extremely poor PvE world also, and a total lack of professions... Its more like an FPS in a way..
I mean.. Look at Runescape.. rediculous graphics, but BIG load of things to do.. If you have the time to put in that game, it rewards you with a rich character development experience.

I'm really sad I can't play WoW.. Cant pay that monthly fee.. Would be great to have it though..

I'd try it... but that $15 a month fee just kills me. I'd feel violated having to pay to play a game I already bought. That plus my wife would kill me.

Bought WOW on sale two weeks ago, but haven't loaded it yet. I like to get my money's worth, so once I start, I'm afraid I'll put more time into it than I have to spare.

Play GW with family members scattered all over. None of them have the time to play a lot, so doubt if any would be wanting to shell out $15 a month for WOW. Looks like a fun game though.

Drop the fee to $10 and I might, just MIGHT pick it up. $15 just seems like pure greed to me.

I'm sure the executives are dealing with the traumatic claim that they are greedy by having snowball fights in their meeting room.

Except instead of making their snowballs and snowforts out of actual snow, they use both big wads and large piles of hundred dollar bills.

Well... ask yourself, why is gasoline $3.00 a gallon two weeks ago, and $2.50 today? What's changed in the last few weeks? Most of the Gulf Coast refineries are still offline. OPEC is still gouging through the roof. What changed? Perception. People realized they were getting screwed and started to complain about it. Corporations want to keep people happily addicted to their products, so they lower prices.

How does this relate? Well... why does Blizz charge $15 a month? Because they can and people will pay it. They simply charge what the market will bear, not what is fair and equitable. Don't get me wrong... I'm not saying businesses shouldn't try to make a profit, but let's not disguise it as anything other than what it is... profit grab.

I'm curious about this $15 fee that many people keep spouting about. Perhaps you are in Europe? I live in Texas, and I am paying $10 a month, via game cards. So that figure does not compute to me...

Few reasons why I do not play WoW
1. I dont like to keep paying for a game after I bought it.
2. I have friends who play this game and all they do is play.
3. It would end up taking my soul, if I payed the 10$ every month I would play non-stop(need to get my moneys worth).

Thumbs up WoW is an extremely good Game.

I play WoW, I have a level 44 hunter on Dreanor. I've had the game for a few months and this is my main. I've played a few other chars but you can see how "casual" I play by the fact I haven't got to 60 yet.

-----

The best thing about WoW is there are so many quirks to the game that it's just pleasing to the eye and the ear when you're standing around doing bugger all.

- The character designs are wicked, I can spend 10 minutes playing about with them.
- The emotes are brilliant, the attention to detail is great in the sence that if you type Lol or Haha of rofl, your character will actually physically and audibly laugh.
- The /silly and the /flirt's can be PRICELESS. Trust me, if you've ever played the WoW normal games you'll know. The trolls have jamaican accents and the the female undead /flirt's are brilliant.
- The difference in armors is brilliant. You get "Something" of the "Something". The first something will determin the look, and the second something will determin the stats. The stats are as follows:

Strength
Stamina
Agility
Intellect
Spirit

These are sometimes combined into groups of two to represent an Animal and certain Animals are perfect for a class.
These are some of the "Animal associated" stats:

Bear - Strength & Stamina (Warriors)
Gorilla - Strength & Intellect
Boar - Strength & Spirit (Shamans)
Tiger - Strength & Agility
Whale - Stamina & Spirit
Eagle - Stamina & Intellect
Monkey - Stamina & Agility (Hunters)
Owl - Spirit & Intellect
Wolf - Spirit & Agility

Seriously, there are so many different types of armor. And a lot of people wear mismatched so if you can nab yourself the full set (becomes easier later on in levels because you go for whole sets and epic sets) you can look pretty awsome.

I play Hunter cos having a pet rocks. I have a Moonstalker Matriarch which is a dark Nightsabre skin, quite rare for a horde character to have. I also have little pets that run alongside me so if you're an animal lover, this game's for you.
Small pet wise you can get:

Cats:
(Black, Silver Tabby, Ginger Tabby, Ginger and White, Black Tabby, Siamese and White.)
Brown & White Bunnies
Owls:
(Brown and Black)
Snakes:
(Brown, Red, Black)
Prarie Dogs
Cokcroaches (swearing)
Dragon Whelplings:
(Red, Green, Black)
Worg Pups

You can solo this game. I think it is that every class is able to solo a mob 4 levels above them max. There's no way you can only solo stuff 2 levels below you, that's bollox tbh. I'm not sure about some casters, everyone knows they're paper dolls but their dps makes up for it. I know that I never challenge stuff over 4 levels.
I play Hunter as I've said, but I melee a lot as Hunter (no flames please). If I can melee something 2 levels above me without my pet, then I'm sure Warriors, Pally's, Rogues etc can manage 4 levels above lol.

You need to be in groups to tackle "Elites". These are mainly in dungeons so you can progress through the game without NEEDING to kill them.

-----

PvP wise, WoW is very satisfying. PvP in WoW is like being 7 again and playing games with your mate's in the streets, SERIOUSLY! They're so much fun.

WSG (Warsong Gulch) - Team of 10 eitherside. Base with a flag. Catch the other team's flag. First to three captures.
I LOVE WSG, I'm named as one of the most formiddable players because everyone would underestimate my melee skills. Anyone who's played WSG knows how hard it is for Hunters to capture the flag (Druid and Shammy job tbh..) but I did it many times at level 30 (21-30 Bg). It's a great feeling seeing everyone cheer when you join their team

AB (Arathi Basin) - This is a recent one. Teams of 15. 5 "Resource Bases" such as a The Mine and Lumber Mill. Capture and defend as many bases as you can and the more bases you have the more resources you gain. First team to 2500 I think it is.

AV (Alterac Valley) - I have no idea Level 50+ Bg so I've never been there.

So, PvP is fantastic fun. Everytime we won at WSG we got 1K xp. You get to loot corpses. Great way to make friends and find good players to call on at later dates to play with you.

-----

You do NOT need to grind at WoW. I hate grind, I play for fun. It's frustrating when you need to level, (update made Bg's 00 -09 instead of 01-00) so being level 30 put me bottom level of 30-39 instead of top of 21-30. That was an arse but xp goes quite fast. Also, if you stop playing for any length of time you get the rest bar which means you have 200% xp for a while. 2 weeks away gave me two whole levels of double xp. That amounted to about 500xp per mob my level, and the xp from 43 to 44 is about 100K. Goes quick.

-----

I would recommend this game. Compared to EQII it is SO cheap per month. Seriously, if you can't spare £10 a month then you're not earning enough money lol. I play this game a lot to socialise and just enjoy the aspects of the classes and professions.
It can be rewarding for someone like me. I'm know for my bolshyness and loudmouthedness and my general wanting to talk about complete bollocks in general chat all the time. Also I start a lot of fights and "heated discussions" (imagine that! )
If you're quite a quiet person then obviously you won't get the same kick as me, but you can get other things from it. Seriously, I spent the day playing a Gnome with my mate and then creating a guild tabard just cos she looked cute and had a wicked /giggle.

---
Btw, Tabards are the equiv to capes. It's a sleveless shirt that reaches your knees that goes over your front and back.
You can change the background colour, border style, border colour, symbol and symbol colour. You can also take them off whenever you want.
---

By the game, get your ass on Dreanor and come and say Hi.

SOT and Mistress you two have convinced me to go try this game soon. Before I just hated it because I wanted too. I wnat tohate games that charge me 15 bucks a month to play but I really am intrested. I should go to a friend who had it before wasting money if I don'tlike it, but no monthly fees really attract me.

It has a lot to do with play time. Getting to Master Sergeant takes forever, and level 60 takes months. Someone on Nerzhul played continuously for three months (switchoff between a few people for no logoffs) in order to get top PvP rank.

Yes, it will be a lot of fun to play WoW. On the other hand, it will suck up your social life. Consider yourself warned.
